Statement of values

Laboratory of Brain Imaging (LOBI) is dedicated to conducting high quality research to answer important questions about the human brain and cognition. As a laboratory, we use modern technology and equipment to study neuroscience, but the essence of our work and identity lies in the people who work here. Whether you’re a PI, postdoc, PhD student or intern, we want to create an environment where everyone has a place to grow and conduct research in a supportive and friendly atmosphere. We invite you to read our statement of values to better understand our core principles and commitments.

Marco Ninghetto

was a PhD Student at LOBI from 2019 to 2024, working under the supervision of Kalina Burnat. His PhD thesis, entitled “Long-term loss of visual field in ophthalmological patients with central or peripheral degeneration of photoreceptors- fMRI analysis of visual cortex”, focused on neuroplasticity of the visual cortex in Stadgardt and Retinitis Pigmentosa patients. He defended his thesis with honors. He is currently a data analyst in the private sector.

Marcin Sińczuk

was a member of LOBI from 2012 to 2016. First, Marcin was working as an intern, and then he prepared his engineering thesis under the supervision of Marek Wypych. The thesis defended at the Faculty of Physics at Warsaw University of Technology was entitled “Automation and optimization of preprocessing of anatomical and functional data obtained from brain magnetic resonance imaging” (in Polish). Later, Marcin defended his PhD and currently, he works at Mossakowski Medical Research Institute PAS.

Anna Kozak

was a PhD Student at the Laboratory of Neuroplasticity and LOBI from 2016 to 2023, working under the supervision of Kalina Burnat. Her PhD thesis, entitled “Behavioral implications and an analysis of white matter changes induced by retinal lesion and visual training based on a stimulus previously tested in patients with retinal damage”, focused on neuroplasticity of the visual cortex in animal model of age macular degeneration. She is currently at AstraZeneca.
